Post 5: On the run.

(Note from Elizabeth: Anastasia was rumored to have escaped from the assassins who murdered her family, although DNA tests in 2009 confirmed that she was murdered in July 1918.)
January 18th, 1918
I am again on the run with my family. The people's hatred of my father, Nicholas II, has not diminished. It is dangerous for us to go out. Recently, I opened my window to get fresh air and was shot at. Luckily, the bullet missed. We have packed our belongings and my sisters and I have sewn the family jewels into the linings of our gowns.
The cheka are now spying on people, so my family will have to make a quiet getaway. If they find us, they
will for sure send us to a gulag (a prison camp). Recently, two prominent men in Russia, Trotsky and Stalin, awere currently rivaling to take the place of Lenin. I am rooting for Trotsky, because his ideals for Russia seem much better and are much needed. The Communist leaders started the cheka and the gulags as a way to instill fear in everyone, and I have to say, it's working. I'm terrified. I hope we're able to escape.

Sorry about your close call, your father has quite the tendency for sporadic movements. #ISeeYou #BoomBoomLeRue #Rhymes

The Cheka will find you. You cannot run or hide forever. You may as well give up now for a less painful death.

The Cheka are very discrete and mysterious. They will find you no matter what. Oh, and there is a 50/50 chance that you will either get sent to a gulag or shot with a million bullets.
